Item 135.   Large Sterling Berry or Vegetable Serving Spoon. 

This spoon features a bowl that is gilded with beautiful bright cutwork and features a bird carrying a branch in his beak.  The gilding is in good condition, but the back of the bowl is in silver having either lost it or never had it.  The handle also has bright cut Victorian type engraving.  It is monogrammed with what the initial “D”.   The back of the handle is marked: “Sterling”, “Brown” (probably for the retailer) and “Pat: Applied For”.  It has a Whiting or Gorham early Victorian feel but could have been made by another silversmith of the time.  Circa mid to late 19^th century.  The overall length of the spoon is eight and three-quarter inches (8-3/4”)
