Item122.  Sterling ice cream cake knife or large pastry server by Wood & Hughes.

Fine floral chasing and repousse work on handle.  Louvre pattern made circa 1871-1899.  This is a substantial large serving piece of good weight and quality.  Wood & Hughes made sterling flatware and hollowware for Tiffany & Co. before Tiffany started to make their own sterling in the late 19th century.  The back of the handle is monogrammed with the initial “H” and is marked with the logo H & W used since 1871.  It is also marked sterling.  Wood & Hughes was succeeded by Graf Washbourne & Dunn in 1899.   The overall length of the server is ten (10”) inches.  The blade is four and three-quarter (4-3/4”) long by three (3”) inches at its widest point.  The condition is good with some surface scratches commensurate with its age.  The piece weighs 103 Grams (3.29 Troy ounces).
